We had been talking about taking the trip to Grey Wolf and the Kootenays for years. And this year we made it happen. Golf Trip 2021 to Invermere/Panorama.
The status of the trip was in jeopardy with the COVID traveling rules, but ultimately it worked out.
Unlike past Golf Trips, this trip ended with the Four Man Scramble Finals on Saturday night. A new twist to ensure two things: 1) That a winner would be declared on the 18th green without counting up points and 2) to not have the dreaded hunger over final day Sunday round. I think this change was success on both fronts.
This year was 16 guys, but unlike in the more recent trips, we had a twist a few arms to fill up to 16 guys. The Golf Trip subscriptions are on the decline!

So like I said, this trip was the same as past trips, but instead of winning the tournament with the most points, the most points allowed for benefits head into the in the Saturday playoffs.
Another twist, because we arrived up in Panorama Wednesday night (before the start of the trip), we thought it would be fun to pick the schedule with everyone there to enjoy.
It was loud and probably a disaster.

Because they finished first, the Sharks picked their matches for the Day 3 – Round 5 matches.

THE FINALS! – Day 3 – Round 6 – Greywolf:
- first off the tee: The Bears. Starting at E.
- second off the tee: The Walruses. Starting at E.
- third off the tee: The Tigers. Starting at -1.
- fourth off the tee: The Shucks. Starting at -1.
Also, remember, the higher ranked team wins in the case of a tie. Very important point! And each team was required to get 4 drives in per guy.
I’ll try to sum this up in a few lines. The Tigers and Sharks came out of the gate HOT and really pulled away from the pack. And With their -1 head starts and tie breaks it was looking bleek for the Bears and Walruses. On the back nine however, the Walruses picked it up and the Tigers and Sharks stalled.
Meanwhile, the Bears had themselves a decent round at -8, but they were never in this.
Back to the Walruses…they charged down the stretch finishing at -10. Draining a couple long bombs to do it.
That left the Tigers and Sharks, who were both at -9, the chance to make a birdie on either of 17 or 18 to tie and ultimately win on a tie break. But unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Both teams, the Tigers and Sharks, were dealing with issues related to getting in their 4 drives.
The Tigers required a drive from Nathan or Holt on 18. This resulted in the Tigers only getting a par on 18, which meant they were bested by the Walruses.
The Sharks had a similar fate, requiring a drive from Lorne or Kevin in 18. A birdie meant victory for them….but it didn’t go there way. The Sharks would end with a bogey on 18.
Both the Shark and Tigers couldn’t get it done on 17 or 18 and the and viola, the Walruses won. A back 9 on Saturday night that changed the fate of the trip.
